At Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital, our employees are the heart of everything we do. They embody our values of kindness, partnership, service, and community in how they care for patients, support each other, and engage with the community.
To celebrate their dedication, we've introduced the Alice's Apple Tree Award. This award recognizes staff who truly embody our values every day. It’s a sister award to the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses®, which honors nurses at APD.
We’re proud to announce our first recipients: Chontai and Moriah.
Chontai, a phlebotomist at the Multi-Specialty Clinic, is known for her quick, gentle touch. She’s gained a fun reputation as the "fastest blood draw in the west!" Patients often comment on her speed, with some saying, “She’s the fastest blood draw I’ve ever had!” But it’s her kindness that truly makes an impact.
Moriah, an LNA on the Medical Surgical unit has impressed patients and families with their kindness and empathy. A patient’s family shared, “Moriah provided such comfort and care and support when it was needed the most. They even spent time with us on my brother’s last day, when he was not actually their patient. They came by our room to check in and be there for us.”
Both Chontai and Moriah reflect the spirit of the Alice’s Apple Tree Award, and we’re proud to have them as part of the APD family.
